How to change Emulation on Portable Star Micronics Printers
Introduction:
This application note demonstrates how to switch emulation modes of portable Star Micronics printers from ESC/POS to StarPRNT and viceversa
Supported Printers: SM-S220i, SM-S230i, SM-T300, SM-T300i and SM-T400i
Supported Interfaces: Bluetooth
Note: SM-L200 and SM-L300 do not support ESC/POS emulation
Switching emulation on the SM-T300i and SM-T400i
1. Print a self-test on the printer: With the printer [OFF], hold both the [POWER] and the [FEED] buttons until the printer starts to print.
2. Take note of the emulation. If this is not the emulation you need, please go to the next step.
3. Open the paper lid.
4. Hold both the [POWER] and [FEED] buttons until “Setup Mode” appears on the screen. After it appears, release the [POWER] and [FEED] buttons.
5. Close the lid and observe if the printed emulation confirmation compare has changed.
6. Power the printer [OFF] and print a self-test to save the new setting and print current configuration.
Congratulations. You have changed your printer’s emulation.
Switching emulation on the SM-S200i and SM-S220i
1. Print a self-test on the printer:
- With the printer [OFF], hold the [FEED] button.
- While holding the [FEED] button, turn the printer on.
- Hold the [FEED] button until the printer prints.
2. Take note of the emulation. If this is not the emulation you need, please go to the next step.
3. Open the paper lid.
4. Hold both the [MODE] and [FEED] buttons until “Setup Mode” appears on the screen. After “Setup Mode” appears, release the [MODE] and [FEED] buttons.
5. Close the lid and observe if the printed emulation confirmation compare has changed.
6. Power the printer [OFF] and print a self-test to save the new setting and print current configuration.
Congratulations. You have changed your printer’s emulation.
Switching emulation on the SM-S230i
1. Print a self-test on the printer:
With the printer [OFF], hold both the [POWER] and the [FEED] buttons until the printer starts to print.
2. Take note of the emulation. If this is not the emulation you need, please proceed to the next step.
3. Open the paper lid and Hold both the [POWER] and [FEED] buttons until the lights turn [OFF]. Once the lights are [OFF], release the [POWER] and [FEED] buttons.
4. Close the lid and observe if the printed emulation confirmation compare has changed.
5. Power the printer [OFF] and print a self-test to save the new setting and print current configuration.
