Configuring the TSP100ECO’s Top Margin

You are here:

Introduction

How to configure the TSP100ECO’s top margin settings in the futurePRNT Utility. In special instances, the integrator may choose to modify the default top margin. It is possible to configure the first line of print beginning anywhere from 3 mm up to 11 mm (including every integer in between) from the top edge of the receipt. However, changing the TSP100ECO’s top margin setting to anything higher than the default 3 mm will lessen the impact of paper saved. For this reason, Star recommends preserving this default setting whenever possible.

Supported Printers: TSP100ECO

Supported Environments: Windows 10 (32/64-bit), Windows 8 (32/64-bit), Windows 7 (32/64-bit)

What is the Top Margin?

The top margin is the white space starting from the paper’s top edge down to the first line of printed text. This area is the no-man’s land of the receipt world: unused by the printer and neglected by the customer. Printers not designed to fit in the eco-friendly class typically have top margins ranging anywhere from 11~15 mm.

The TSP100ECO is the world’s first eco point of sale printer and is the only one that prints as early as 3 mm from the top of the receipt. The result is conserving 8~12 mm of what would be wasted paper, space and money.

Best of all, the TSP100ECO ships with a 3 mm top margin by default, and it is the only receipt printer that can deliver this coveted feature with the industry-demanded partial cutter. This means retailers and restaurateurs automatically save right out of the box – no hardware modifications necessary!

Above: The TSP100ECO saves retailers money right out of the box with a default top margin of 3 mm. Multiply the amount conserved above across the number of printers installed and receipts printed and the savings really pile up!
