How to Change the Bluetooth Mode on Portable Printers

Introduction:

The printer models listed below support Bluetooth communication with iOS (Apple), Android and Windows devices (Tables, smartphones, computers) with the corresponding Bluetooth mode setup.

This Application Note explains how to switch the Bluetooth mode of a Star portable printer to support the host device’s operating system

Supported Printers: SM-S220i, SM-S230i, SM-T300i, SM–T300i2, SM-T400i.

Supported Interfaces: Bluetooth

Switch Bluetooth mode

 

SM-S230i

1) Power the printer [ ON ] 
2) Unpair the printer if currently paired with any device
3) Simultaneously hold down thePower ] and FEED ] buttons until the red Error light flashes 5 times and the printer beep twice. The printer will then print a status sheet indicating its current Bluetooth Mode.

4) Repeat step 3 until the intended Bluetooth mode is selected. 

     For  iOS devices select: “Bluetooth (Auto)”
     For  Android, Windows or Mac, select: “Bluetooth (Mac)”

SM-S220i/SM-T300i/ SM-T400i

Note: For the SM-S220i, use the [Mode] button instead of the [POWER] switch

1) Power the printer [ ON ] 
2) Unpair the printer if currently paired with any device
3) To enter setup mode, simultaneously hold down the Power ] and FEED ] buttons until the red Error light flashes 5 times.


4) Repeatedly press the Power ] button until the intended Bluetooth mode is displayed

     For iOS devices select: “Bluetooth (iAP)”
     For Android, Windows or Mac, select: “Bluetooth Mode”

5) To save, simultaneously press and release Power ] and FEED ] A status sheet will print indicating the current Bluetooth Mode.

 

SM-T300i2/SM-T400i2

1) Power the printer [ON] 
2) Unpair the printer if currently paired with any device
3) To enter setup mode, simultaneously hold down the Power ] and FEED ]  buttons until the red Error light flashes 5 times.
4) Repeatedly press the Power ] button until the intended Bluetooth mode is displayed

     For iOS devices select: “Bluetooth (Auto)”
     For Android, Windows or Mac, select: “Bluetooth (Mac)”

5) To save, simultaneously press and release Power ] and FEED ] A status sheet will print indicating the current Bluetooth Mode.
