How to Reset a Star Micronics Ethernet or Wi-Fi Printer

You are here:

Introduction

This application note provides instructions for resetting the communication settings of Star Ethernet (LAN) or Wi-Fi printers.

Supported Printers: All Star Ethernet (LAN) and Wi-Fi Printers, MCW10
Supported Interfaces: Ethernet, Wi-Fi
Supported Environments: N/A

Before you begin

Resetting the printer’s network settings restores it to the default connection configuration and removes all saved network information. This process also resets the Network Utility page settings, including the default password and any CloudPRNT configuration.

When should I reset my printer’s network settings?

You may need to perform a network reset when:

  • Setting up a TSP100IIIW on a new Wi-Fi network (reset required)
  • Switching from a static IP address to a DHCP configuration
  • When a new network/router has been installed
  • Setting up on a new Wi-Fi network (reset required)
  • Recovering a forgotten Network Utility page password
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity issues
  • Troubleshooting Bluetooth connectivity issues
  • Resetting the Bluetooth device name
  • Resetting Bluetooth pairing permissions

Which steps should I follow?

For models such as the SP700, TSP650II, TSP700II and TSP800II the steps required vary dependent on the interface model.

Perform a self-test to identify which model printer you have and, if applicable, which network interface is installed.
