How to Test Star Products Using the Star Quick Setup Utility App
Introduction
This application note provides instructions for testing a Star printer, cash drawer, buzzer, or barcode scanner using the Star Quick Setup Utility application.
Supported Printers: mC-Label Series, mC-Print Series, mPOP, TSP100III, TSP100IV
Supported Peripherals: Cash Drawers, Scanners, Buzzer
Supported Interfaces: Bluetooth, Ethernet (LAN), USB (TSP100III on iOS only), USB-C (TSP100IV on Android only), Wi-Fi
Supported Environments: Android and iOS
Before you begin
Important! Make sure the printer is properly installed, configured, and functioning before proceeding.
Important! When testing an Ethernet (LAN) or Wi-Fi printer, ensure the iOS/Android device is connected to the Wi-Fi network. When testing a Bluetooth printer, ensure the printer is paired to the iOS/Android device.
Important! All peripherals must be connected to one of the supported printers listed above to ensure proper operation.

Printer Test
Note: If you have multiple printers, perform a self-test to identify the IP Address or Bluetooth name. Please refer to the following article for guidance:
How to Perform a Hardware Self-Test on Star Printers
1. Open the app and tap Selected Printer.

2. If prompted, allow the app to use Bluetooth and find devices over the network. Select the printer and confirm by tapping “Yes“.
Bluetooth: BD Name
LAN/Wi-Fi: IP Address

3. In the menu choose Printer Operation Check and tap “Printer Test“.

4. The app confirms the action was successful.

Congratulations! You successfully performed a print test through the Star Quick Setup Utility application.
Cash Drawer / Buzzer Test
Note: If you have multiple printers, perform a self-test to identify the IP Address or Bluetooth name. Please refer to the following article for guidance:
How to Perform a Hardware Self-Test on Star Printers
1. Open the app and tap Selected Printer.

2. If prompted, allow the app to use Bluetooth and find devices over the network. Select the printer and confirm by tapping “Yes“.
Bluetooth: BD Name
LAN/Wi-Fi: IP Address

3. In the menu choose Printer Operation Check and tap “Cash Drawer / Buzzer Test“.

4. Select Channel 1 and the drawer will open / buzzer will buzz. The app confirms the action was successful.
Note: If the drawer fails to open, try again and choose Channel 2 and/or try reversing the ends of the cash drawer cable.

Congratulations! You successfully performed a cash drawer/buzzer test through the Star Quick Setup Utility application.
Barcode Scanner Test
Note: If you have multiple printers, perform a self-test to identify the IP Address or Bluetooth name. Please refer to the following article for guidance:
How to Perform a Hardware Self-Test on Star Printers
1. Open the app and tap Selected Printer.

2. If prompted, allow the app to use Bluetooth and find devices over the network. Select the printer and confirm by tapping “Yes“.
Bluetooth: BD Name
LAN/Wi-Fi: IP Address

3. In the menu choose Printer Operation Check and tap “Barcode Reader / HID Device Test“.

4. The app recognizes that a peripheral is connected by flashing Device Connected. Use the accessory and when the data appears it confirms the test was successful.

Congratulations! You successfully performed a barcode reader/HID device test through the Star Quick Setup Utility application.
