Modifying Printer Settings in StarPRNT Utility

Introduction:

This application note explains how to modify internal Star printer settings, also referred to as Memory Switches or Soft Switches. While these instructions were written using the TSP700II, this document suffices for the below models.

 

Supported Printers: FVP10, TSP650, TSP700II, TSP800II, SP700, SP500, TUP500, TUP900*

Supported Printer Emulation: Star Line Mode (Default), ESC/POS Mode

Supported Interfaces: Ethernet*, USB, Powered USB, Serial, Parallel

Supported Environments: Windows 10 (32/64-bit), Windows 8 (32/64-bit), Windows 7 (32/64-bit)

* TUP900 does not support Ethernet connection

 

StarPRNT and Printer Installation

If the Star Printer has already been installed on the system, skip to section 2, Modifying and Storing Settings.

If the Star Printer has not been installed on the system, it is necessary to install it using the StarPRNT Intelligence Driver at this point in time.

Once the printer is installed on the system, return to this application note and skip to section 2, Modifying and Storing Settings.

 

Modifying and Storing Settings

Connect the printer to the PC and turn the power on. StarPRNT should have already been installed at this time.

Click the Windows Start button and navigate StarMicronics > Printer Software > Printer Utility.

 

Click “Printer Settings”.

 

The printer’s current settings is highlighted by the red box. Customize these settings to fit the application by clicking the dropdown box. The functions displayed depends on printer model and contains all of its memory switches. Hover the mouse over the name of each setting for a brief overview of what function each one performs.

 

If desired, click the dropdown box next to “Category” to view categories for a more digestible list of settings.

 

Once all desired settings are made, click “Store” to save the settings to the printer.

 

The printer resets itself, confirming the settings were stored to it. Click “OK”.

 

Printer Operations

Reset Default Settings

 

To return all memory switch settings to factory default, click “Reset Defaults”.

 

Click “Yes”.

 

If desired, save the current settings to the PC as backup before the rollback occurs.

The printer resets itself, confirming the default settings were restored.

 

Print Settings

Click “Print Settings” and the printer outputs a self-test which displays all current settings stored in it.

 

Reload Settings

Click “Reload” to refresh the
