Registration
Contact weights and measures and provide business information including location. Below is an image of some useful information about your scale that weights and measures or a sealer may request including Scale Manufacturer, Scale Model, and COC #.
Depending on location the Office of Weights and Measures will provide you with a licensed sealer’s contact information or contact a sealer and provide them with your information. Either a state or town sealer is needed depending on location.
An appointment will be set up with the sealer to come and calibrate, test, lock and seal your scale. There will be a fee due at time of service.
Calibration
The NTEP scale must be calibrated by a certified service agency. List of Licensed Sealers.

Sealing
After sealing your scale, the sealer will contact weights and measures to let them know and they will add your business to the list.
An appointment will need to be scheduled each year to test and re-seal the scale.
How this is done is dependent upon location.
