Point of Sale Software, Star Micronics Printers Create User-Friendly Mobile Solutions
Traditional point of sale systems can be bulky and expensive, as well as un-integrated, immoveable and far from user-friendly. However, those comprised of receipt printers from Star Micronics and POSLavu point of sale software from Lavu Inc. are quite the opposite.
Many Star Micronics printers may be easily integrated with POSLavu, which allows retail and hospitality end-users to enjoy the convenience of wireless connections not only to receipt and kitchen printers, but to cash drawers as well. No special printer configuration is necessary; end-users need only find and supply the IP address of the printers they wish to operate in tandem with the software.
POSLavu then takes full advantage of the powerful technology built into the Apple iPad™, iPod Touch®, and iPhone®, connecting to the Internet via high-speed 802.11n Wi-Fi. Point of sale and kitchen printing—along with other functions—can be initiated directly from any of these hand-held devices, over Wi-Fi or through “cloud” computing. This eliminates the need to walk back and forth between point of sale terminals and printers and creates entirely mobile, versatile point of sale solutions.
What’s more, wireless point of sale applications built on POSLavu may be implemented at approximately one-fourth the price of their traditional wired counterparts—a tremendous cost savings for hospitality and retail store operators no matter what the scope of their particular implementation. To date, the largest site to install POSLavu utilizes the solution on eight point of sale terminals and twenty iPod Touches, along with seven Star Micronics printers, including the TSP654. An unlimited software license covers the entire POS application.
Distributed internationally by APPLE, POSLavu is easily installed in less than one hour, and training may be completed within minutes. “Today’s retailers and restaurateurs need easy-to-use point of sale hardware, peripherals and software that conserves costs and makes day-to-day operation far easier,” said Christophe Naasz, Director of Marketing at Star Micronics. “Combining our printers with POSLavu is a great way to give it to them.”
