The Star Micronics mC-Connect Drawer adds USB, Ethernet, Wireless LAN, and Bluetooth® Low Energy connectivity to cash drawers with standard RJ-12 connections. This allows compatible cash drawers to communicate directly with POS systems, tablets, and mobile devices while continuing to support traditional printer-driven configurations. It gives retailers, restaurants, QSRs, hospitality businesses, and pop-up operators more options for fixed checkout, mobile POS, shared tills, kiosks, and space-constrained counters.
USB, Ethernet, Wireless LAN, and Bluetooth® Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) 5.0 are built into one mC-Connect Drawer model. Businesses can choose the connection that fits each POS deployment without purchasing separate interface-specific controllers. Using one model across fixed POS stations, mobile checkout setups, kiosks, and multiple locations can simplify hardware selection, installation, inventory, and future rollouts.
The mC-Connect Drawer works with compatible cash drawers that use standard RJ-12 connections, allowing businesses to upgrade cash drawer connectivity without replacing installed hardware. It can turn an existing cash drawer into a USB, Ethernet, Wireless LAN, or Bluetooth LE cash drawer for use with newer POS systems and mobile devices. This provides a practical path for updating checkout technology while preserving existing cash drawer investments.
The mC-Connect Drawer monitors drive voltage and executes open commands when sufficient power is available, helping prevent failed drawer opens during busy retail and restaurant transactions. Commands are held until the controller is ready, supporting consistent operation in high-traffic checkout environments. Cash drawer status monitoring also allows POS applications to track drawer activity and initiate cashier workflows, security alerts, or other connected-system actions. Support for multiple cash drawer configurations is available when required for shared till or multi-lane deployments.
