How to Configure mG-S Scales
Introduction
This application note provides instructions for configuring common settings on mG-S series Scales.
Supported Scales: mG-S322, mG-S1501, mG-S8200
Supported Interfaces: BLE (Bluetooth 5.0), Bluetooth, Serial, USB
Before You Begin
Before you begin, ensure the following quick checks are completed:
Quick Checks
- Place the scale on a flat, stable surface
- Make sure the platter is installed correctly
- Remove anything touching the weighing surface
- Keep the scale away from airflow or vibration
- Verify that the power connection is secure and the scale’s display is ON

Important! The scale requires software that has been specifically integrated to support it. Before using the scale, confirm that your POS system or software provider supports the mG-S Series and has integrated with it.
This scale supports the following features:
- Multiple weighing modes, including Weighing, Counting, Percentage, and Specific Gravity (Solid).
- Integrated display and control panel for operation.
- USB-B and RS-232C (Serial) ports for wired connectivity.
- Bluetooth communication.
- BLE (Bluetooth 5.0) connectivity for mobile devices such as tablets.
- Capacity:
- MG-S322: 320g
- MG-S1501: 1500g
- MG-S8200: 8200g
Leveling
1. The adjusters located at the four bottom corners of the scale are locked during shipment. To release them, turn each adjuster in the direction shown in the figure.

2. Level the scale.
- While viewing the level indicator located in the lower left corner of the front display, adjust the leveling feet on the bottom of the scale.
- Continue adjusting the feet until the bubble is centered within the indicator circle, as shown in the figure.

3. After leveling the scale, gently press on all four corners to confirm the unit is stable and does not wobble.

Power ON/OFF and Operation Check
Turn the Power ON
1. Connect the included AC adapter to the balance.
2. Confirm the balance enters standby mode and an asterisk appears on the display.
3. Press the ON/OFF key.
4. Wait while all LCD indicators light and the balance performs a self-check.
5. Wait for the balance to enter Weighing Mode.
Check Operation
1. Lightly press the weighing pan.
2. Confirm the displayed value changes when pressure is applied.
Turn the Power OFF
1. Press and hold the ON/OFF key for about 2 seconds.
2. Confirm the balance returns to standby mode.
Tare Check
Tare weight is the weight of an empty container, package, or vehicle. Subtracting it from the total (gross) weight provides the net weight of the contents.
Set a Tare Weight
1. Place the empty container on the weighing pan.
2. Confirm the container weight is displayed.
3. Press the Tare key.
4. Confirm the display changes to zero.
5. Confirm the net weight symbol appears.
Check the Tare Weight
1. Press the [F4] key to switch the menu bar.
2. Press the [F1], [F2], or [F3] key assigned with the <TARE> function.
3. Confirm the tare weight is displayed.
4. Press the [F4] key to return to measuring mode.
Weigh a Sample Using Tare
1. Place the sample into the container.
2. Confirm the net weight of the sample is displayed.
Clear the Tare Weight
1. Remove both the sample and container from the weighing pan.
2. Press the Zero key.
3. Confirm the display returns to zero.
4. Confirm the net weight symbol disappears.
Zero-Point Adjustment
A zero-point adjustment resets the scale to zero when nothing is on the weighing pan, ensuring accurate weight measurements.
Zero-Point Adjustment Notes
- Zero-point adjustment cannot be performed if the load exceeds the allowable zero-point adjustment range.
- If the load exceeds the range, perform a tare operation instead.
- The zero-point adjustment ranges are:

Perform Zero-Point Adjustment
1. Make sure nothing is placed on the weighing pan.
2. Press the Zero key.
3. Wait for the weight indication to stabilize.
4. Confirm the display reads zero.
5. Confirm the zero symbol appears on the display.
Weight Output Mode
The scale can be configured to output weight data under different conditions, such as continuously during weighing, when the OUTPUT key is pressed, or after the weight has stabilized.
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Press F1 key three (3) times to navigate to <4 EXTERNAL I/O>.
3. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER.
4. Press F2 key two (2) times to navigate to <42 BLUETOOTH>.
5. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER and <431 ACTIVATE> should display.
6. Press F2 key two (2) times to navigate to <433 CONDITION>.
7. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER.
8. Press F2 key until the desired condition is displayed:

10. Press the Menu key again to exit the setting menu and return to measuring mode.
Auto Off
The auto off feature turns the scale off automatically after a period of inactivity to save power.
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Use the F1-F4 keys to navigate to <1B AUTO OFF>.
3. Press the F4 key to change the setting value.
4. Select the desired time from the available options:

5. Press the F1 or F2 key to confirm the selection.
6. Press the F4 key to save the setting.
7. Press the Menu key again to exit the setting menu and return to measuring mode.
Select Measurement Unit
The unit type setting determines which measurement unit the scale uses to display weight, such as grams, kilograms, ounces, or pounds.
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Use the F1 or F4 keys to navigate to <12 UNIT>.
3. Press the F4 key to change the setting value.
4. Push F1 or F2 key to select the unit.
5. Press the F4 key to save the setting.
6. Press the Menu key to exit the setting menu and return to measuring mode.
Enable/Disable Bluetooth
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Use the F1 or F4 keys to navigate to <4 EXTERNAL I/O>.
3. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER.
4. Press F2 key two (2) times to navigate to <4 2 BLUETOOTH>.
5. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER and <431 ACTIVATE> should display.
6. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER.
7. Press F2 key two (2) times to change setting:
ON: Bluetooth ON
OFF: Bluetooth OFF
8. Press F4 key one (1) to confirm selection.
9. Press the Menu key again to exit the setting menu and return to measuring mode.
Backlight
The backlight feature illuminates the display so it is easier to read in low light or dark environments.
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Use the F1 or F4 keys to navigate to <1A BACKLIGHT>.
3. Press the F4 key to change the setting value.
4. Select the desired setting from the available options:

7. Press the Menu key to exit the setting menu and return to measuring mode.
