How to Troubleshoot mG-S Scales
Introduction
This application note provides instructions for troubleshooting mG-S series Scales.
Supported Scales: mG-S1501, mG-S322, mG-S8200
Supported Interfaces: BLE, Bluetooth, Serial, USB
Before You Begin
Ensure the scale is placed on a stable, level surface away from vibration or airflow. Verify the pan and platter are properly installed and nothing is on the weighing surface.

Quick Checks
- Place the scale on a flat, stable surface
- Make sure the platter is installed correctly
- Remove anything touching the weighing surface
- Keep the scale away from airflow or vibration
- Verify the power connection is secure
- Restart the scale
Leveling
1. The adjusters located at the four bottom corners of the scale are locked during shipment. To release them, turn each adjuster in the direction shown in the figure.

2. Level the scale.
- While viewing the level indicator located in the lower left corner of the front display, adjust the leveling feet on the bottom of the scale.
- Continue adjusting the feet until the bubble is centered within the indicator circle, as shown in the figure.

3. After leveling the scale, gently press on all four corners to confirm the unit is stable and does not wobble.

How to Configure Data Output Conditions
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Press F1 key three (3) times to navigate to <4 EXTERNAL I/O>. <431 ACTIVATE>.
3. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER.
4. Press F2 key two (2) times to navigate to <42 BLUETOOTH>.
5. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER and <431 ACTIVATE> should display.
6. Press F2 key two (2) times to navigate to <433 CONDITION>.
7. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER.
8. Press F2 key until the desired condition is displayed:

9. Press F4 key one (1) select.
10. Press the Menu key again to exit the setting menu and return to measuring mode.
Will Not Power On
1. Confirm the scale is connected to power
The mG-S uses a separate power supply
2. Ensure all power cables are securely connected
Verify all power supply connections are firmly connected.
3. Test the power cable or outlet
Plug the power supply into a different outlet or try another compatible power supply if available.
Turns Off Automatically
1. Auto Off
The scale may have the Auto OFF feature enabled.
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Use the F1-F4 keys to navigate to <1B AUTO OFF>.
3. Press the F4 key to change the setting value.
4. Select the desired time from the available options:

5. Press the F1/F2 key to confirm the selection.
6. Press the F4 key to save the setting.
7. Press the Menu key again to exit the setting menu and return to measuring mode.
Does Not Send Weight Data
Check the following:
- Verify the cable or Bluetooth connection is active
- Wait for the weight reading to stabilize before sending
- Keep the scale away from airflow (such as fans or windows)
- Place the scale on a stable, level surface
Unleveled/Unstable surfaces or airflow may prevent the “Stable mark“ indicator from appearing on the scale’s display.
Shows Incorrect Units
The scale may be set to the wrong unit type.
1. Verify the Correct Unit Type is Selected
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Use the F1-F4 keys to navigate to <12 UNIT>.
3. Press the F4 key to change the setting value.
4. Push F1/F2 key to select the unit.
5. Press the F4 key to save the setting.
6. Press the Menu key to exit the setting menu and return to measuring mode.
2. Verify the Application Unit Type
If the application’s Unit Type does not match the scale’s provisioned setting, the weight will not be received. Verify that the application is configured correctly.
Displays Weight When Empty
1. Ensure the pan is installed correctly
Remove all items from the pan.
2. ZERO the Scale
Press the ZERO key.
3. Clear any active Tare
Press the TARE key. Zero is displayed and when the arrow indicator above Net indicator disappears, the tare weight is cleared.
Bluetooth Connection Issues
If the scale cannot be found or has any Bluetooth connection problems, please follow the below steps to ensure Bluetooth is enabled and the weight data output condition are set correctly.
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Press F1 key three (3) times to navigate to <4 EXTERNAL I/O>. <431 ACTIVATE>.
3. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER.
4. Press F2 key two (2) times to navigate to <4 2 BLUETOOTH>.
5. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER and <431 ACTIVATE> should display.
6. Press F4 key one (1) ENTER.
7. Press F2 key two (2) times to change setting to [ON].
8. Press F4 key one (1) to confirm selection.
9. Press the Menu key again to exit the setting menu and return to measuring mode.
Backlight is OFF
If the display backlight is not turning on, verify the scale is powered on and the backlight setting is enabled.
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Use the F1-F4 keys to navigate to <1A BACKLIGHT>.
3. Press the F4 key to change the setting value.
4. Select the desired setting from the available options:

6. Press the F4 key to save the setting.
7. Press the Menu key to exit the setting menu and return to measuring mode.
Error Codes
Error codes help identify issues with the scale and provide guidance for resolving them. Below are the most commonly encountered error codes for the mG-S Series Scale.
ERR705
Initial zero adjustment error. Occurs during startup if the load is unstable or the pan setup is incorrect.
ERR723
Something was on the pan when the scale was ZERO-ed. Remove all items and press the ZERO key again.
UNDER ERROR
Ensure the pan is installed correctly and empty. Press the ZERO key.
OVER ERROR
The weight exceeds capacity. Remove excess weight and try again.
ERR717
Only occurs during Calibration by a certified technician. Verify the correct calibration weight is being used and re-calibrate.
