The important word is supported.

ESC/POS compatibility does not mean every compatible printer will behave identically. An application may rely on specific character sets, formatting, barcodes, cutter commands, cash drawer controls, status responses, or other functions.

Before recommending new hardware, VARs and ISVs should verify how the application communicates with the current printer, which functions it relies on, and whether the proposed replacement supports those requirements.

1. Confirm That the POS Application Uses ESC/POS

Start with the POS application itself. Check its documentation, printer configuration, integration settings, or developer resources to confirm that it sends ESC/POS commands.
